Archaeological dig


We have been learning the meaning of some new words related to history such as archaeology, archaeologists, artefact, replica, evidence.

We pretended to be real archaeologists and dug up some artefacts very carefully and made notes about what we found.

As part of our science topic on 'Rocks and soils', we found out about how fossils are made, and then created our own. We looked at how small creatures can get caught in tree resin which hardens over time and becomes amber. We used some orange jelly to show the amber. We then created our own moulds of dinosaurs to create our own fossils.

Mental maths Challenge yourselves by completing the ‘Daily 10’, just like we normally do in school: https://www.topmarks.co.uk /maths-games/daily10 Choose Level 3/ addition / 2 digit numbers/ 10 secs  OR Practise your addition and subtraction to 20 and 100  Maths – Weight 1) Look through your store cupboard and find foods that have their weight on the packet such as flour, tinned food and cereal. Make a list of different weights of foods in g or kg. Which are heavier or lighter? How much heavier is one item than another - use their weight and some maths to work it out?  e.g. Flour is 2.5kg or 2500g       Can of soup is 400 g       So the flour is heavier. 2500 - 400 = 210...
