Place value work in maths

In Maths this term we shall be focusing on:
Place value – knowing the value of each digit in a number.
Calculations:  addition and subtraction skills
Shape: properties of 2D and 3D shape
We will apply skills to a range of situations and develop perseverance and resilience when problem solving.

How you can help at home:
  • Encourage your child to practise their times tables (2x, 3x, 5x, 10x).
  • Provide opportunities for using money and telling the time.
  • Give them time to play maths games, either on the internet or with the games that can be loaned out from our school library.
  • Give them time to play the games on 'Sumdog' twice a week (these are website accessible maths games, free for our pupils to use). Each child now has a Sumdog log in attached to the last page of their yellow reading record.
